Sylvie Jéhanno graduated from leading French science and engineering schools Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole des Mines in Paris.
Career
Now 49, she began her career at EDF, initially managing a gas network team (then EDF GDF Services) before moving into sales & marketing, where she headed a customer relations centre and ran a marketing team tasked with preparing for the liberalisation of the energy market in 1999. She was appointed B2B marketing manager in 2005 and vice president for key accounts in 2007. She was senior vice president for residential customers at EDF from late 2011 until the end of 2016, in charge of 5,000 employees serving around 25 million customers.
Her achievements include launching the digital transformation strategy for residential customers and spearheading the innovation initiative to position the EDF Group in the smart home market through the launch of startup subsidiary Sowee and its connected hub.
In January 2017, Ms Jéhanno was appointed CEO of Dalkia, an EDF subsidiary and leader in energy services. The company has 15,000 employees and two core businesses dedicated to developing local renewables and unlocking energy savings. On 10 January 2018, she became chairwoman and CEO of Dalkia, as well as chairwoman of Dalkia Wastenergy, a Dalkia subsidiary specialising in recovering energy from household waste and promoting a circular economy. She has committed Dalkia to the “CAP Dalkia” strategic plan, targeting an overall energy mix comprising 50% renewable and recovered energy sources by 2022.
Awards
Ms Jéhanno also ushered in the “Women Energy in Transition” award in 2018, which aims to recognise the work of talented women in supporting the energy transition and combating global warming.
