Astrid MADSEN | City of Rotterdam

Process Manager Energy Transition

At City of Rotterdam

Astrid Madsen has been working for the City of Rotterdam since 2000. She has been active on a wide range of topics; from head of department wastewater maintenance to head of department sport projects where she was responsible for the realisation of the Olympic Rowing Course in Rotterdam. In 2004 and 2009 she left the city to work abroad for Doctors without Borders.

Now as strategic advisor energy transition she works with many stakeholders to facilitate and coordinate the transition towards a CO2 emission-free energy system.

Ms Madsen holds a Master of Science degree from Twente University, The Netherlands.

We need to be willing to sacrifice personal preferences and individual benefits for a better overall result. This also means that we need to share all costs and benefits that are part of the transition, so we can make the transition possible for all, and not just for the happy few. This might be the biggest challenge, as well as an opportunity to show greatness.
