Across the globe cities are competing to attract people and capital; countries and regions are developing systemic answers to become more efficient and resilient and to decrease their environmental impact. Even in places where gas and oil still dominate, District Energy is emerging as the backbone of the 21st century urban environment. This session will explore District Heating and Cooling projects from across the globe and consider success factors and possible lessons that these newcomers can teach the European DHC community.
